Truck pull to bring fair to exciting conclusion

LIMA — This year’s lineup of events at the grandstand will close out at 7 p.m. Aug. 27 with the Buckeye Power Truck Pull, an action-packed and family-friendly conclusion to the fair sure to excite the crowd.

According to Tanner Foley of Buckeye Power Productions, at least 60 trucks are expected to compete in this year’s show, with drivers hailing from across Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. They will compete in several classes, including 6,500-pound limited street gas, cheater street gas and pro street gas classes, and the 8,000-pound 2.6 smooth bore diesel and Woodstock diesel classes.

Foley said a lot happens behind the scenes to make the show possible. Drivers put in hours of work to fine-tune their trucks and get ready for competition.

“A lot of people put a lot of work into these trucks,” Foley said, “they’re not just something you can get off the street.”

Kids who go to the show might even get a chance to meet some of these drivers.

“The fans can expect a really well-organized, very family-friendly event,” Foley said. “All the drivers will take time out of their day if any of the fans or kids want to ask any questions or want to take pictures.”

In the end, it all comes down to a fun night out watching powerful trucks show what they can do.

“We just like to go out and have fun and put on a good show for the fans,” Foley said.
