Going back to the movie theater?

It’s the best feeling to step out of our blistering hot weather and into an ice-cold, darkened movie theater. Local cinemas are offering several incentives during these steamy months to remove us from our Netflix addictions and experience the summer’s blockbusters in their crisp, dimmed playhouses.

The highest-grossing megahit so far is “Top Gun: Maverick,” starring Tom Cruise as a Navy test pilot confronting his deepest fears. “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” a Marvel Comics-style superhero flick, is another smash summer hit, along with “Jurassic World Dominion” and “Minions: The Rise of Gru.”

So many of us have been hesitant to go to theaters during the COVID-19 pandemic. But some consider large theaters with high ceilings and good ventilation to be a safe bet, especially when the theater is uncrowded and groups can spread out. Many theaters offer the discounts below during hours when crowds are sparse. Check their websites if you have any questions about their COVID-19 policies or these summer specials.

AMC Theatres
