Jack Hanna Into The Wild tickets available

VAN WERT — Tickets for Jack Hanna’s Into The Wild show are available for the 3 p.m. Oct. 8 show at Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Van Wert.

Jack Hanna’s Into The Wild show takes the audience around the world through the eyes of Jack Hanna and his family. Into the Wild provides insight into the protection and conservation of some of our planet’s most precious and endangered species. The show will leave one with an appreciation for all creatures.

Tickets can be purchased online at NPACVW.org and through the Box Office, from noon to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, or by calling 419-238-6722. Tickets can be purchased for as low as $15.

Allen County Fair parade and entry deadlines

LIMA — Entries for open class exhibits at the Allen County Fair are being accepted, with all entries due Monday.

The 2016 Exhibitors Handbook is available at the fair office located at 2750 Harding Highway, Lima, as well as online at www.allencofair.com. The fair office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For further information, call the fair office at 419-228-7141.

All entries for the Allen County Fair Parade must be submitted by Monday as well. Fair parade will begin at 2 p.m. Aug. 14. The parade route will start on Main Stret at Robb Avenue and continue on Main Street through the square downtown. Questions can be directed to the fair office at 419-228-7141.

The Allen County Fair will take place Aug. 19 to 27.

Genealogical Society hosting workshop

LIMA — The Allen County Genealogical Society will be hosting a workshop from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 18 in the Folsom Auditorium at the Allen County Museum, 620 W. Market St. The workshop features two programs, “Finding Women’s Records at the Courthouse” by Janice Lovelace, Ph.D and “Tips and Tricks for using Family Search” by Karen Jones.

Lovelace is nationally known and has more than 20 years of experience in genealogical research and academic studies.

Jones is a family historian and longtime volunteer at Lima’s Family History Center, and has been involved with genealogy for years.

Workshop pre-registration fee is $15. Please send a check for pre-registration to Allen County Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 1104, Lima, OH 45802 prior to Sept. 18. Walk-in registration is $20 at the door.

Oak Ridge Boys coming to Lima

LIMA — The Oak Ridge Boys are bringing their Christmas Celebration Tour to Lima at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at Veterans Memorial Civic Center.

The Christmas Celebration Tour features a mixture of traditional and contemporary songs, including religious, romantic and fun holiday tunes. A highlight of the evening is the ‘rocking chair’ segment where each Oak Ridge Boy rocks by the fireplace and shares personal thoughts about Christmas.

The Oak Ridge Boys have sold more than 41 million units worldwide. They have garnered five Grammy Awards and nine GMA Dove awards as well as the Mainstream Artist of the Year Award.

Learn to Quilt

LIMA — West Central Ohio Quilt Guild is offering a quilting class from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 22 at Forest Park Family Life Center, 315 S. Collins Ave., for a $10 fee.

This is a beginners quilt class for those wanting to learn. Join the class for the day and make an quilt block that can be made into a small quilt or wall hanging. Fabric, batting, backing, sewing tools and sewing machine will be provided. Lunch will be provided.
