LIMA — The annual Earth Day Awareness Celebration will be Sunday at Faurot Park Pavilion. The celebration is being held on a Sunday for the first time in its existence.
“This is the first time we have held it on a Sunday. We will see what that does. Hopefully more people will get out and come,” said Rae Neal, event organizer.
The event has a festival atmosphere with music, art, entertainment and information.
“Weather is a big factor,” said Neal. “Whenever it’s a nice day there are more people out in the park to take of advantages of opportunities. They don’t have to have money to be a part of it. Just come out and enjoy and learn something. Whether it’s recycling, learning about rechargeable batteries or just being aware of how much electricity they are using. That is our goal. Getting people out to enjoy the fun, but also gain valuable knowledge and awareness while they are at it.”
Neal is confident when saying there is something for everyone at this event. Especially for those that are interested in saving money while at the same time being environmentally conscious.
“I think the awareness has increased. More people are aware and want to be aware of their own personal actions on the footprint of our environment,” said Neal. “They can save money by being aware and conscious. Things are changing and getting better.”
