Salvation Army celebrating 150 years

LIMA — There will be a special service at 11 a.m. Sept. 20 at the Lima Salvation Army, 614 E. Market St., to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Salvation Army in the United States. For details, call 419-224-9055.

Family game night scheduled

LIMA — The Game of Life will be happening at 6 p.m. nightly from Aug. 31 to Sept. 6 at the Lima Salvation Army, 614 E. Market St. There will be songs, games, Scriptures and a devotional. Attendees have the opportunity to be a part of nightly game show and to win prizes. For details, call 419-224-9055, ext. 215.

New programs at Salvation Army to start

LIMA — Weekly programs will begin Sept. 15 at the Lima Salvation Army, 614 E. Market St. Sundays services begin at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday Youth Night begins at 5:30 p.m. and includes dinner and Kidz Clubs. (Kicking it for Jesus, a karate class, is currently being held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays.) Wednesday Adult Nights start at 5:30 p.m. with women’s ministry at noon. Thursday Music Nights start at 4:30 p.m. and include dinner at 5 p.m. There is also a daily after school program from 3 to 5 p.m. and dinner for participants at 4:30 p.m. For details, call 419-224-9055.

Human rights to be celebrated by group

LIMA — The Annual Human Rights Celebration will begin at 1 p.m. Sept. 4 at South Side Community Christian Church, 3300 South Side Drive. The event is organized by Church Women United of the Lima Area. The main program, “Journey Toward Peace,” will focus on the persecuted church throughout the world and human rights’ concerns with one another. Attendees will pray for peace together. Outdoor worship and picnic planned

ELIDA — There will be an outdoor worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 13 at Salem Mennonite Church, 4275 W. State Road. The event will feature worship time, a picnic, games and activities. For details, call 419-339-1505.

Concert planned for 2 church services

WAYNESFIELD — Debra Perry and Jaidyn’s Call will be performing in concert at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Waynesfield Baptist Church, 512 N. Westminster St. For details, call 419-568-5911.

Evangelist Jerry VanTilburgh coming

MENDON — Lima evangelist Jerry VanTilburg will be speaking at a tent service at 7 p.m. Friday at Motor Inn Truck Stop, 10391 U.S. 127. VanTilburg is being hosted by Truckers for Christ Ministry. Gospel Bob will provide his own brand of Gospel bluegrass music during the service. For details, call 937-489-5325.
