95th birthday: Gertrude Riegle

LIMA — Gertrude A. “Trudy” Riegle is celebrating her 95th birthday. A card shower would be appreciated at The Springs of Lima, 370 N. Eastown Road, Room 516, Lima, OH 45807.

She was born May 22, 1925, to Joseph and Gertrude Langle. On Nov. 18, 1944, she married Paul D. Riegle, who died Sept. 27, 1977.

She has four children, Dianna (Lanny) Baughman, of Columbus, Rod (Pat) Riegle, of Asheville, North Carolina, Tom (Paula) Riegle, of Lima, and Jon (Mary) Riegle, of Powell. She has seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A grandchild is deceased.

She is a member of First Evangelical and Reform Church, Lima. She worked at The Leader Store and held secretarial positions with Pangles, Ahl Dealership and the Allen County Sheriff Department. She is a graduate of Lima South High School. She was involved in Cub Scouts, Irving School PTA and Spartan Mothers Club.

She was the “official scorekeeper” for her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She was a member of the ABWA-Lima Charter Chapter, named 1984 Chapter Woman of the Year. She loved to play pinochle with the Fifth Wednesday Ladies Club, volunteered for the Lima Convention and Visitors Bureau and worked with the election board.

She loves to shop, do needlework and play cards. She has always had a passion to travel the USA and internationally.
