LIMA — Leola Scott is celebrating her 90th birthday. A drive-by rainbow parade was held Saturday.
She was born May 9, 1930, in Hurtsboro, Alabama, to Will and Hattie Dawson. On Nov. 26, 1947, she married Earnest Scott, who died Feb. 21, 2004.
She has seven children, Willie C. (Velma) Scott, of Lima, Wallace Scott, of Brazoria, Texas, Walter (Lyda) Scott, of Indianapolis, Wayne (Angela) Scott Sr., of Indianapolis, Winfred (Rhonda) Scott, of South Euclid, Geraldine Scott, of Cincinnati and Gwendolyn Scott, of Lima.
In her younger years, she enjoyed playing basketball, rising horses and milking cows. As an adult, she has enjoyed gardening and cooking Sunday dinners for her family. She moved from Alabama to Ohio with her late husband. She worked outside the home doing housekeeping for a short time and also worked at Milano’s in downtown Lima. She spent the majority of her time being a housewife and mother. She is a member of 11th Street Missionary Baptist Church.
