LIMA — Agnes L. Wolff is celebrating her 95th birthday with a gathering of family and friends.
She was born March 27, 1923, in Lima, to Don A. and Helen I. Hixenbaugh. On Aug. 15, 1947, she married John Jay Wolff, who died Sept. 26, 1986.
She has three children, Tim (Nancy) Wolff, Ruth Melson and Ann (Rick) Shaffer. A son-in-law, Kenny Melson, is deceased. She has five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. A grandchild is deceased.
She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1941 and later Northwest School of Commerce, Lima. She was a secretary at Lima-Kenton Groceries in the 311 Building on East Market Street until she had children. She was an officer in Shawnee Grange, did square dancing, camping and was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. In the early 1960s, she and her family created Faith Manor Inc., Cridersville, a business that became Cridersville Nursing Home. She was active in this until it was sold in the mid-1990s. She enjoys watching TV, visiting with family and friends and having her hair done at May’s Bonnie Lass, Cridersville.
