Terry and Michael Downey

BLUFFTON — Mr. and Mrs. Michael Downey are celebrating 50 years of marriage with a trip to Mackinac Island, Mich. They renewed their wedding vows at Jones Mansion, and celebrated with a dinner and party.

Downey and the former Terry Chidester were married Oct. 15, 1972 at First Presbyterian Church in Monroe, Mich., by the Rev. Paul Markman.

They are the parents of three children, Michael (Heather) Downey the II, Christian (Jamie) Downey Thompson and Nicholas (Caroline Eastman) Downey. They have two grandchildren.

Downey retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation. He also retired from Beaverdam Church of Christ after serving 27 years as pastor.

His wife retired from Richland Manor Nursing Home, where she was a receptionist and from Shawnee Weekday Pre-school, where she was a teacher.
