Mark Figley: Time to fix what’s broken

As we anxiously await the upcoming mid-term elections, it’s time for a reality check. Through a mix of intent and ineptitude, the past two years have been a period unmatched in our history. Nothing has worked, no one has cared, everything has failed. And while this new abnormal has been an unmitigated disaster, Democrats can’t run from “the big guy,” Joe Biden, fast enough.

A once secure border gone. Millions of illegal entrants and a daily, unending stream of even more. Criminal cartels engaged in human smuggling and fentanyl importation on a scale unseen. Meanwhile, the Biden regime ignores all immigration law and welcomes the chaos.

The highest rate of inflation in over 40 years has lowered income by an average of $4,200; caused largely by obscene government spending in an effort to encourage government dependency and Democrat Party voting allegiance. Biden’s response: it’s just transitory.

A broken supply chain and worker shortage to rival that existing anywhere in the world. Biden’s solution: Come on man, just pay workers more.

While LGBTQ activists indoctrinate our kids, promote pronouns of choice and push destructive and dangerous gender reassignment surgeries (all without parental consent), Biden applauds. Then, when parents rise up at school board meetings, he weaponizes the FBI to threaten them.

Out-of-control crime and violence everywhere. Law and order replaced by calls to defund the police. Lashing out against cops at every turn as radical prosecutors decline to charge criminals or release them on the grounds that they are the true victims. This is Joe’s idea of safe streets.

Fighting COVID through a divisive and ineffective masking policy and coercive vaccine mandate. But snippy Joe’s just following the science. Never mind that he’s contracted COVID twice despite wearing a mask, being twice vaccinated and double-boosted.

A once energy-independent industrial giant brought to its knees by the termination of the Keystone-XL pipeline, stopping gas and oil production in Alaska’s ANWAR region, canceling of federal oil/gas leases and perpetually villainizing big oil.

Biden’s scheme to “save the planet” as affordable gas is replaced by the highest prices on record. After campaigning to eliminate fossil fuels, Joe begged Venezuela and Saudi Arabia for the oil we desperately need. They responded by refusing to even take his calls. Then, Biden said he’d punish the Saudis when they said no to maintaining production until after the election. Hey Joe, wasn’t Donald Trump impeached for a phone conversation threatening to end weapons sales to Ukraine?

Feeble-minded Joe also brilliantly opened up our strategic oil reserve, undermining national security, until after the mid-terms. This after he ended oil purchases from Russia following its invasion of Ukraine; although various other countries now buy it instead. Just blame Putin!

On the foreign policy front, chaotically and cowardly withdrawing from Kabul, leaving untold Americans and Afghan allies behind in the biggest foreign policy disaster in U.S. history. Billions in weapons and a state-of-the-art air base abandoned to the Taliban. But in the end, this wasn’t Biden’s fault. “Not a joke.” It was the Afghan army and U.S. military leaders, stupid!

And don’t forget the shortage of baby formula, which was due to a contaminated Abbott production facility according to Joe. His solution: airlift supplies from overseas to the U.S. and take credit for all to see. Only problem is, America generally initiates these kinds of acts to assist the rest of the world in times of need. But not in the age of perpetually-befuddled Biden.

These issues are self-induced by Democrats to break the spirit of the American people, while fundamentally transforming the country and destroying confidence in its institutions. They are prerequisites to the implementation of the “Great Reset.” In the interim, the misery inflicted is required and necessary pain for long-term gain. After all, the goal is societal collapse!

Democrats have done everything to divide us as our hapless, hopeless storyteller-in chief rules by decree and declares war on 74 million Trump voters. The result: a place not unlike the world’s worst banana republic, where foes are harassed and a former president’s private estate is raided by the FBI. To salvage this great nation, voters must show up en masse and make this election a referendum on Joe Biden and every Democrat who supported him along the way. As Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy aptly put it, “You can’t fix stupid, but you can vote it out.”
