Johnny Appleseed Parks hosting walking series

LIMA — The Johnny Appleseed Parks will be hosting its Walking Thru Autumn Hiking series beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Ottawa Metro Park, 2632 Ada Road, Lima. Pre-register by calling 419-221-1232.

Hand-made walking sticks are available for purchase at $10. If participants walk in six out of the eight hikes, they are eligible to receive a Metro Parks hiking medallion.

The public is welcome to join in for any of the hikes but will not be eligible for a medallion.

Sept. 9: Ottawa Metro Park, 2632 Ada Road, Lima

Sept 16: Deep Cut Historical Park, 22900 state Route 66, Spencerville

Sept. 23: McLean Teddy Bear Park, 2004 N. Dixie Highway, Lima

Sept. 30: Lippincott Bird Sanctuary, 3093 Bellefontaine Road, Lima

Oct. 7: Motter Metro Park, 10740 Columbus Grove-Bluffton Road, Bluffton

Oct. 14: Kendrick Woods, 971 N. Defiance Trail, Spencerville

Oct. 21: Heritage Park, 2092 Reed Road, Lima

Oct. 28: Hermon Woodlands, 485 N. Wapak Road, Lima.
