Virginia E. Kohls, 87, died at 3:05 p.m. Nov. 4, 2010, at Lima Convalescent Home.
She was born July 15, 1923, in Fort Jennings to Arthur and Alma Recker Kohls, who preceded her in death.
Miss Kohls was a 1941 graduate of Fort Jennings High School, where she was the valedictorian. She was a graduate of Ohio State University, Columbus, where she worked in the English department. She enjoyed sewing and reading and loved drawing and painting. She had a reference book on hyphenated words published. She traveled all over the world, including Europe, collecting memorabilia of her travels. She was fond of her birds and outdoor garden. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church.
Survivors include a sister, Barbara (Jim) Swick, of Lima; a brother, Gordon (Jackie) Kohls, of Dayton; eight nephews, Dan Kohls, Steve (Anne) Kohls, Greg (Anne) Kohls, Jim (Lorrie) Kohls, all of Dayton, Jack (Mary) Kohls, of Minneapolis, Michael (Danette) Swick, Timothy (Karen) Swick and Jerome (Katherine) Moenter; and a niece, Barbara (David) Schmiedebusch, of Lima.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Kohls, Edna Moenter and Irene Swick; a brother-in-law, Jerry Moenter; and a nephew, Jeffrey Kohls.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Catholic Church. Father Tim Ferris will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Fort Jennings.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Convalescent Home.
