Homer Henderson, 78, died at 9:47 p.m. Jan. 27, 2010, at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, Columbus.
He was born Sept. 20, 1931, in Kenton to Clay and Donna Wolf Henderson, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 10, 1955, he married Fran Bryant, who survives in Pandora.
Mr. Henderson retired from Phillips ECG, Ottawa, after 40 years. He attended New Life Church International, Lima. He was a member of American Legion Post 616, Pandora, and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, Lima, and the Bluffton Senior Citizens. He enjoyed watching high school sports. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He attended high school in Kenton and was a 1949 graduate of Bluffton High School, Bluffton. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors also include three daughters, Cathi Ungar, and Steve (Carol) Henderson, both of Bluffton, and Terri Wayne, of Dupont; nine grandchildren, Rachel (Gabriel) Thompson, Melody Sommers, Marcy (Jason) Maple, Amy (Dustin) Montgomery, Steven Henderson, Ali Hopkins, Cody Hopkins, Jessica Oakley and Chance Wayne; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, James Henderson, of Lima, and Edward (Linda) Henderson, of Decatur, Ind.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Bluffton. Pastor Darnell Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora, with military rites by American Legion Post 616.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
