LimaJ.C. Cobb, 84, died at 8:10 a.m. June 25, 2011, at Triumph Hospital, Lima.He was born June 26, 1926, in Hurtsboro, Ala., to Willie and Abbie Spencer Cobb, who preceded him in death. In March 1970, he married Mae Frances Allen, who died Sept. 28, 1992.Mr. Cobb retired as a laborer from the central foundry at General Motors Corp. He was a member of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 211. He loved farming and enjoyed dancing in his younger years.Survivors include three sons, Thomas Cobb, of Atlanta, and Kenneth Cobb and James Cobb, both of Lima; seven daughters, Sharon (Denise) Cobb, of Lima, Theresa Allen, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Vanessa Carter, Onedia Cobb, Monica (Rick) Carter, Tracey Cobb and Latosha Cobb, all of Lima; 37 grandchildren, including Derrick Grimsley, who was his loving caretaker; 44 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and his special friend, Johnny Smith.He was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Cobb; six brothers, Will, John, Charlie, Joey, Ed and Lee Cobb; and three sisters, Carrie Dawson, Mary Cobb and Sheila Jackson.Services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. C.M. Manley will officiate, with the Rev. David Dawson delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
