ElidaMelvin Allen Lapham, 56, died peacefully at 6:45 p.m. Sept. 11, 2011, at his residence.He was born Nov. 25, 1954, in Lima to Leland L. and Treva I. Reed Lapham. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Elida. Mr. Lapham has now gone to be with his Lord.Survivors also include two sons, Mickey Lapham, of Elida, and Nicholas Lapham, of Antioch, Calif.; two daughters, Angela (A.J.) Shock, of Delphos, and Ginger (Blake) Williams, of Las Vegas; a stepdaughter, Rose Shanks, of Lima; a brother, Dean Decker, of Portland, Ind.; four sisters, Anita (Wayne) Murphy, of Elida, Treva (Dennis) Bowers, of Claypool, Ind., Shirley Lapham, of Columbia City, Ind., and Jan Murphy, of Duffield, Va.; four grandchildren, Adara and Ayden Shock, and Preston Bradley and Zackery Blake Williams; two stepgrandchildren, Violet and Lilliana Shanks; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.He was preceded in death by a sister, Marolyn Reese.Services will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. Burial will be in Ash Grove Cemetery, Lima.
