The 2011 Senior Olympics took place recently, and more than 100 participants between the ages of 50 and 90-plus took part. They came from Toledo, Perrysburg, Findlay, Michigan and the Lima area.Participants competed in many events. The whole event started out with an excellent breakfast and John Carver, retired swim coach, gave a motivational speech. Mary Lou Paisley and staff from the Senior Center did a super job keeping all events running smoothly. The whole event couldn't have been pulled off without the assistance from Otterbein Retirement Center and Elmcroft Assisted Living. And a big thank you to the Lima Parks Department, Hawthorne Hills, Lima schools, 20th Century Lanes, Northwest Fitness Club, Heritage Park and the Senior Citizens Center. Also, thanks to The Lima News and Our Generation's Magazine for the nice articles about the Senior Olympics and for highlighting several participants and to Fox News, which followed the Olymics. The whole Olympics could not have been run better. Congratulations and thank you to all involved.
