ElidaKarl K. Stockton, 92, died at 7:55 a.m. March 11, 2011, at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville. He was born Oct. 23, 1918, in Allen County to Charles and Hazel Kerr Stockton, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 24, 1940, he married Vera E. Plikerd, who died March 6, 2006.Mr. Stockton was a 1936 graduate of Shawnee High School. He was a lifelong farmer. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Marion Baptist Church since 1940, where he served in several capacities. He was a member of the Allen County Farmers Club and the Farm Bureau. He really enjoyed seeing everything on the farm grow, including his grandchildren.Survivors include a son, Bernard (Connie) Stockton, of Spencerville; two daughters, Carol (Jim) Briggs, of Spencerville, and Tammy (Mike) Buettner, of Lima; seven grandchildren, Stephen Shaffer, of Spencerville, Aaron Shaffer, of Lima, Karla (Mike) Schwartz, of Spencerville, Emily (Matt) Marshall, of Fort Wayne, Ind., Kyle Stockton, of Spencerville, and Michaela Buettner and Michael Buettner, both of Lima; a stepgrandson, Justen (Anna) Briggs, of Boca Raton, Fla.; a great-grandchild, Peyton Schwartz; a stepgreat-grandchild, Konnor Briggs; a brother, Donald Stockton, of Lima; and a sister-in-law, Breta Plikerd, of Delphos.He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janell Stockton; and a granddaughter, Renee Stockton.Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville. The Rev. Jay Lobach will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos, with military rites by the Spencerville Veterans.Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to WTLW Channel 44 TV or Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772.
