Saturday’s highlights

There are few Saturdays like this one. They're special, important and busy.

In girls basketball, Ottoville showed it's a force to be considered with a 49-36 win over Minster. The two are state-ranked in the Division IV poll, but one can only assume the Big Green will make a big jump from their current position in seventh.

In boys basketball, two games standout -- Columbus Grove remaining unbeaten in Putnam County League play with a 53-43 win over Kalida; and Lima Senior's much-needed 79-69 win against Ottawa-Glandorf.

Grant Dues stole the wrestling headlines with a MVP showing at the Van Buren Invitational; the Allen East wrestler won the 152-pound title, and the Mustangs took the team crown.

And for the college basketball fans out there, Saturday's win for Ohio State is a nice feather in the Buckeyes' cap. The more time passes and more games go past, the more this team looks like a legit national title front-runner.
