OttawaThomas S. Kiene, 69, died at 3:33 p.m. Oct. 4, 2011, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.He was born April 24, 1942, in Lima to Reno and Mary Kreinbrink Kiene, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 9, 1971, he married Mary Aelker, who died March 24, 2006.Mr. Kiene retired in 1999 from the Ohio Department of Transportation. He was a dedicated member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, where he was a Eucharistic minister and took over maintenance of the church after his retirement. He and his wife taught CCD classes at St. John the Baptist Church, Glandorf, for several years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1757, Ottawa.Survivors include two children, Christine Kiene, of Maumee, and Stephen Kiene, of Columbus; and a sister, Octavia (George) Grone, of Delphos.He was preceded in death by a son, David Kiene; three brothers, Francis (Sharon), Arthur and Lawrence Kiene.Mass of Christian burial will be begin at 10 a.m. Friday at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. Father Matt Jozefiak will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where a Scripture service will be held at 2:30 p.m. and a K. of C. rosary service at 3:30 p.m.Memorial contributions may be made to SS.
