Afternoon storm leaves damage

LIMABreaking days of record heat, a Friday afternoon thunderstorm caused power outages and left some damage in its wake.About 1,000 American Electric Power customers were without power in Putnam County on Friday evening after the storm, which also toppled the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall that arrived at the Putnam County Fairgrounds on Thursday.The storm also uprooted a large tree at a home near Milton and North Glenwood avenues in west Lima.More strong storms are forecasted for today and Sunday as temperatures that have been in the high 90s are expected to drop slightly.
