FindlayJohn Veland Bucher, 84, formerly of Pandora, died the morning of March 28, 2011, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.He was born Jan. 7, 1927, near Columbus Grove on Bucher Road, to Ezra E. and Elvina Hilty Bucher, who preceded him in death. On June 21, 1947, he married Thelma Pearl Bridenbaugh, who survives. They were married for 63 years.Mr. Bucher graduated from Columbus Grove High School. He farmed on Road 4 near Pandora for 50 years. He served as a Riley Township trustee for 16 years. He was a Marines Corps veteran of World War II. He was a life member of American Legion Post 616, Pandora. Survivors also include three sons, David (Tracy) Bucher, of Valrico, Fla., Don (Cindy) Bucher, of Circleville, and Brad (Beverly) Bucher, of Findlay; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Bucher, Jill (Justin) Folk, Kristen (Jamie) King, Benjamin Bucher, Andrew Bucher, Brenton Bucher, Bryce Bucher and Brittany Bucher; two stepgrandchildren, Bruce Spitler and Amanda Spitler; three great-grandchildren, Jonah Folk, Kailen King and Eliana King; a stepgreat-grandson, Gregg Spitler; a sister, Vidella Schey, of Leipsic; and two sisters-in law, Lucille Bucher, of Bluffton, and Wilma Bucher, of Pandora.He was preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon, Vinton and Victor Bucher; and five sisters, Verena Schumacher, Viola Bucher, Velma Conrad, Veldine Bucher and Vera Diller.Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Pandora United Methodist Church, Pandora. The Rev. Mark Hollinger will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora, with military rites by American Legion 616.Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.Memorial contributions may be made to Pandora United Methodist Church.Condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
