Rieman, 81, died suddenly at 1:11 a.m. Aug. 6, 2011, at the Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf.He was born March 27, 1930, in Ottawa to Charles and Mary Kreinbrink Rieman, who preceded him in death. On June 7, 1950, he married Phyllis Schroeder, who died June 23, 1988. On Feb. 16, 1991, he married Ruth Ann Rump Selhorst, who survives in New Cleveland.Carl was a lifelong dairy farmer. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland, and the Holy Aid Society. He was a member of the Putnam County Dairy Board, the N.O.B.A., the Farm Bureau and the Milk Marketing. He had been an Ottawa Township trustee for 20 years and on the 911 Board. He was a member of the Ottawa Knights of Columbus and the Ottawa Eagles. He loved spending time with his family and friends and especially enjoyed playing cards and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and also enjoyed gardening and watching movies.Survivors also include eight children, Barbara (Darwin) Grener, of Cincinnati, Michael (Norma) Rieman, of Leipsic, Marjorie (Carl) Brown, of Miller City, Kathleen (George) Steffan, of Leipsic, Dennis (Barbara) Rieman, of Ottawa, Janice (Steve) Kaufman, of Leipsic, Carol (Tim) Alt, of Leipsic, and David (Jane) Rieman, of Davis, Ill.; six stepchildren, Gary (Joann) Selhorst, of Leipsic, Roger (Karen) Selhorst, of Leipsic, Bruce (Gini) Selhorst, of Columbus, Jennifer (Dan) Liebrecht, of Ottawa, Chuck (Kathy) Selhorst, of Leipsic, and Kyle (Sonya) Selhorst, of Columbus Grove; 31 grandchildren, 23 stepgrandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, Elvera Schroeder, of Galion.He was preceded in death by a grandchild; a stepgrandchild; a great-grandchild; four brothers and their wives, Albert (Mary) Rieman, Felix (Catherine) Rieman, Vincent (Helen) Rieman and Edward (Rita) Rieman; a sister and her husband, Cecilia (Waldo) Niese; and a brother-in-law: Thomas Schroeder.Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland. Father Stephen Schroeder, Father Denny Schroeder and Deacon Jim Rump will officiate.
