CridersvilleRose M. Chiazza, 86, died at 3:05 a.m. Sept. 3, 2011, at Otterbein Nursing Home, Cridersville.She was born Sept. 24, 1924, in California, Pa., to Philip and Rose Masaresi DiFilippo, who preceded her in death. On July 2, 1949, she married Samuel L. Chiazza, who died June 27, 2010.Mrs. Chiazza was a homemaker and a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Elkettes and Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 370. She volunteered at St. Rita's Medical Center. She loved playing bridge and was an avid golfer, having played in the Elkettes Ladies Golf League and the General Dynamics Ladies Golf League. She, most of all, enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. She never knew a stranger and was considered by many as the sweetest person around.Survivors include three sons, John C. (Mary) Chiazza, of Fort Wayne, Ind., Philip A. (Sue) Chiazza, of Pomona, Calif., and Angelo J. (Sallie) Chiazza, of Mooresville, N.C.; a daughter, Deb R. (Jerry) Hight, of Wapakoneta; six grandchildren, Tara, Samuel J. and Nicole Chiazza, Lindsey (Ty) Kuhns, and Nicholas and Anthony Hight; a great-granddaughter, Carmella Kuhns; a stepgreat-grandson, Devin Kuhns; a brother, John (Genevieve) DiFilippo, of California, Pa.; and a sister, Carmella Stazzone, of Westwood, N.J.She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles DiFilippo.A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Catholic Church in Lima. The Rev. Norbert Howe will officiate. Entombment will be in Gethsemani Mausoleum, Lima.Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel, where a parish wake service will begin at 8 p.m. Friday.Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Charles Catholic Church, American Kidney Foundation or St. Rita's Medical Center.
