LimaFleming C. Bower Jr., 84, died at 6:36 p.m. July 31, 2011, at Lima Manor Nursing Home.He was born Sept. 10, 1926, in Dundock, Md., to Fleming C. and Catherine Haldman Bower Sr., who preceded him in death. His companion and sweetheart, Ruby Miller, survives in Lima.Mr. Bower retired in 1980 from Superior Coach and had worked with the Pennsylvania and New York Central railroads. He was a train enthusiast. He was an Army veteran of World War II.Survivors also include a brother, Harry Bower, of Cincinnati; three sisters, Harriet Park, of Lima, Delois Bower, of Chicago, and Catherine White, of Wilmington, N.C.; six stepchildren, Pamela McKee, Howard L. Miller, Ruby Greenland, Mary Dunson, Marvin D. Miller and Connie Hall; his stepmother, Jean Ann Miller; several nieces and nephews; and several friends, including his best friend, Bob Job.He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bryant, Thomas, Bradford and Charles Bower; and two sisters, Dorothy Bower and Elizabeth Hughes.Services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Eastside Chapel. Major Phillip Tamayo and Major Pamela McKee will officiate. Burial will be in Ward Cemetery, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275.Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.Condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
