Put-in-BayBruce Edward Downey, 65, of Put-in-Bay and Las Vegas, died at 9:17 a.m. July 14, 2011, at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, following a sudden illness.He was born March 5, 1946, in Lima to Marion and Mary Elizabeth Amstutz Downey.Mr. Downey retired from the Lucas County Housing Authority, and he had also worked for the state of Ohio and British Petroleum. He enjoyed working on Corvettes, golf, skiing, video poker and competitive sports. He was a 1964 graduate of Lafayette-Jackson High School, Stautzenberger College, Toledo, and he served in the Marine Corps Reserves.Survivors include a daughter, Heather Downey, of Venice, Calif.; a son, Jason Downey, of Los Angeles; a sister, Barbara (Chuck) Runyan, of Carmel, Ind.; three brothers, Timothy (Debra) Downey, of Bowling Green, and Steve (Chris) Downey and Lance (Elizabeth) Downey, both of Lima; and a special friend, Jody Bisel, of Mansfield.A memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton. The Rev.
