DelphosVioleta Wienken, 83, died Oct. 13, 2011, at St. Rita's Medical Center.She was born Nov. 8, 1927, in Allen County to Isadore and Rose Hoffman Siefker, who preceded her in death. On May 29, 1948, she married George Wienken, who survives in Landeck.Mrs. Wienken was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Landeck, and its Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772 Auxiliary, Spencerville. She enjoyed polka and square-dancing and baking cookies, pies and banana muffins. She felt truly blessed to have witnessed her five great-grandchildren.Survivors also include a daughter, Margie (Art) Schmersal, of Ottoville; a brother, Dennis (Esther) Siefker, of Delphos; seven grandchildren, Tony Schmersal, Maria (Dennis) Renner, Jared Schmersal, Julie Schmersal, Alicia (Jason) Bunch, Kristin (Nate) Stant and Adam Bockey; five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Elyssa and Ethan Renner and Elijah and Lydia Stant; a son-in-law, Paul Bockey, of Delphos; and three sisters-in-law, Mary Siefker, Mary Lou Schulte and Winnifred Siefker, all of Delphos.She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Wienken; two daughters, Dorothy Wienken and Arlene Bockey; a sister, Mildred Wannemacher; and three brothers, Carl, Ottmer and Richard Siefker.Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Landeck. Father Jacob Gordon will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 7 p.m.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Visiting Nurses or the American Diabetes Association.
