Letter: Road to recoverylined with friends

First Posted: 6/29/2011

Wednesday marked the one-year anniversary of when I was hit by a car while riding my bicycle. As you might recall, I was on vacation with my family in Quincy, Mich. That time of enjoyment quickly became a very scary time for all of them. Information was sent from Quincy to various Lima agencies (The Lima News, Lima Police Department, Allen County Sheriff's Office, etc ...) trying to identify me. For eight days, I was in the Intensive Care Unit at a Kalamazoo, Mich., hospital, later being transferred to Lima Memorial Health Systems for an additional three-week stay. Upon release from Memorial, therapists from Northwest Physical Therapy worked with me three times a week until this past Monday. I was in the care of as many as six physicians as I began to take my steps in recovery. There is no doubt that God saved my life. My family, my physical therapists, my physicians, and the prayers of the Lima Community have helped me re-learn how to live my life. There are far too many people to thank, personally, let alone the individuals that chose to support me through prayers and well wishes as I have walked this journey of recovery.I am still in recovery, with one more surgery in the not too distant future. I have so much to be thankful for, that honestly no words can ever truly express my gratitude to all of you.God Bless all of you. Thank you, again, for all of your support. I am proud to be a member of this Lima Community.
