LIMAJanet E. Walker, 79, died at 12:36 p.m. March 15, 2011, at Primrose Senior Living.She was born in Lima on Sept. 7, 1931, to Paul and Margurette O'Donnell Fitzgerald, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 24, 1959, she married James E. Walker, who survives.Mrs. Walker was a homemaker and previously had worked as an accountant with Randall Bearings until her last child was born and she chose to stay home and raise her family. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She was baptized and married at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and graduated from St. Rose High School in 1949. She was a charter member of St. Rita's Hospital Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at Unity Elementary School and the soup kitchen. She was a member of the Catholic Youth Organization where she had served in various capacities, including coaching. She tailored her volunteering around wherever and whatever her children were doing. She enjoyed playing golf and tennis and traveling around the world. She so enjoyed her trip to Ireland with her husband, where she kissed the Blarney Stone and visited the Fitzgerald Castle. She will be deeply missed by her two dogs, Ben and Charlie. She loved watching Lima Central Catholic basketball, Ohio State sports and the Cleveland Browns.Survivors also include a son, Michael J. Walker, of Delaware, Ohio; two daughters, Kathleen (Perry Landin) Walker, of Cloverdale, and Ann M. (Clyde) Kennedy, of Lima; two grandchildren, Macy and Ian Walker; two sisters-in-law, Jackie Fitzgerald, of Lima, and Ellie Walker, of Williamsburg, Va.; and a brother-in-law, Jack Koehler, of Cleveland.She was preceded in death by a brother, John Jack Fitzgerald; a sister, Rita Koehler; a niece, Bridget Fitzgerald; two sisters-in-law, Ann Rudman and Gertrude Daugherty; and a brother-in-law, Frank Daugherty.Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Rose Catholic Church. The Rev. Norbert Howe will officiate. Entombment will be in Gethsemani Mausoleum.Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel, where a parish wake service will begin at 8 p.m. Friday.Contributions may be made to St. Rita's Hospice, LCC Father Herr Scholarship Memorial Fund, or St. Rose Catholic Church.
