LimaAlice B. Brassell, 92, died at 8:06 a.m. Jan. 11, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System.She was born June 18, 1919, in Como, Miss., to Lucius and Chesteen Joy Woods, who preceded her in death. In 1945, she married Freeman A. Brassell Jr., who died Dec. 6, 2009.Mrs. Brassell was a homemaker. She loved to cook and take care of people.Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Brassell, of Lima, five grandsons, the Rev. Timothy (Donna) Brassell, of Baltimore, Erik G. (Deborah) Brassell, of Chino, Calif., Jeffrey F. (Tonia) Brassell, of Waynesfield, Michael G. (Elizabeth) Brassell, of Tennessee, and Joshua Brassell, of Findlay; a granddaughter, Shirley Gibson, of Tennessee, 12 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Louise Lewis, of Detroit; a nephew, Joe L. (Shirley) Spears, of Detroit; two godsons, William H. (Louise) Robinson, and Lee (Alberta) Robinson, both of Lima: a goddaughter, ReEsther Orr, of St. Louis; and three caregivers, Nancy Landry, Kay Scales and Edgar Rochester, all of Lima.She was preceded in death by a son, Rufus Brassell; a daughter, Mathia Gibson; and a grandson.Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home& Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. The Rev. Dorothy Brassell will officiate. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lima.Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
