Lima Central Catholic is headed back to the playoffs.

LCC will join nine other teams from the region in the state football playoffs, which begin on Friday.

The top eight teams in Divisions II through VII qualified for the state playoffs.

Area teams playoff bound are Lima Central Catholic, Wapakoneta, Delphos Jefferson, Delphos St. John’s, Kenton, Coldwater, Ada, Crestview, Leipsic and Marion Local. Also headed to the playoffs is Defiance.

The Western Buckeye League, Northwest Conference and Midwest Athletic Conference all placed three teams in the playoffs.

Divisions III, IV and VI will play at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Division V and VII will play at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

In the first round of the playoffs, seeds one-through-four will host seeds five-through-eight.

Four area teams are jammed into region 20 of Division VI in two Friday night matchups.

No. 6 seed Crestview (8-2) will meet No. 3 seed LCC (8-2) Friday at Lima Stadium. Crestview didn’t play LCC this season, with the T-Birds no longer in the NWC.

It marks LCC’s 10th year in the playoffs. It’s Crestview’s second year in the playoffs, with its only other appearance coming in 2005.

In the other region 20 matchup, it will be No. 7 seed Ada (7-3) at No. 2 seed Delphos Jefferson (9-1) at Friday at Stadium Park. The game will be a rematch of the NWC game on Oct. 25 at Delphos Jefferson. Ada gave Delphos Jefferson its only loss of the year, 25-20.

It’s Delphos Jefferson’s 11th year in the playoffs and first since 2008. It’s Ada’s ninth year in the playoffs.

In Division III, No. 6 seed Springfield Shawnee (9-1) will play at No. 3 Wapakoneta (9-1) on Friday. It’s Wapakoneta’s sixth time in the playoffs and first since 2011.

In Division IV, No. 7 seed Galion (9-1) will be at No. 2 seed Kenton (10-0) on Friday. Kenton, which has won two state titles, will be making its 10th trip to the playoffs.

In Division V, No. 5 seed Coldwater (8-2) travels to No. 4 seed Pemberville Eastwood (8-2) on Saturday. Coldwater has won three state titles, including last year, and owns a 50-15 playoff record. It will be the Cavaliers’ 19th trip to the playoffs.

Delphos St. John’s needed a Week 10 win over Minster and that’s what the Blue Jays did to earn the No. 8 seed.

In Division VII, region 24, Delphos St. John’s (6-4) will travel to face No. 1 seed Leipsic (8-2) on Saturday.

It will be the fourth meeting between the Blue Jays and the Vikings in the playoffs since 2009. St. John’s won the matchups in 2009 (34-7), 2011 (28-20) and 2012 (34-29).

Delphos St. John’s will be making its 16th trip to the playoffs and owns a postseason record of 49-9, including six state titles. Leipsic is making its sixth trip.

In Division VII, region 26, No. 6 seed Fort Loramie (8-2) will play at two-time defending state champion Marion Local (10-0). Marion Local has won six state titles and owns a postseason record of 48-9. It will be the Flyers’ 16th trip to the playoffs.

Defiance (6-4), the No. 8 seed in region 8 of Division III, will play at No. 1 seed Toledo Central Catholic (10-0) on Friday.
