Ethel Bell Stapleton, 67, died at 12:54 p.m. May 18, 2013, at her residence.

She was born March 7, 1946, in Durant, Miss., to Robert McClellan Sr. and Beatrice Alexander. Her father preceded her in death. Her mother and stepfather, Nathaniel Bunley Sr., also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Stapleton had worked at Philips Sylvania, Ottawa. She was a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as an usher. She loved and cared for her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Curtis L. Stapleton Jr. and Alfred T. Jones, both of Lima; a special son, Michael Newby, of Lima; two daughters, Janice M. Hankins and Shaundeka N. Jones, both of Lima; a stepdaughter, Melinda Gordon, of Lima; a special daughter-in-law, Naomi Y. White, of Lima; a special daughter, Catsonava (Ricardo) Maloy, of Lima; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert McClellan Jr., and Eddie McClellan, both of Lima, and Leon (Tonya) Bunley, of Columbus; two stepbrothers, Ronnie Bunley, of Columbus, and Nathaniel (Annie) Bunley, of Lima; and six sisters, Alice McClellan, Eula B. Hall, Annie (Nathaniel) Bunley, Eva Young and Johnnie McClellan, all of Lima, and Mae Liza McClellan, of Rockland, Ill.

She was preceded in death by a son, Terry L. McClellan Sr.; a sister, Ella Burge; a son-in-law, James W. Hankins; and her best friend, Queenie Gaddy.

Services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Robert T. Curtis Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jones-Clark Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
