Two from the area earned Ohio player of the year honors Tuesday.
Lineman Noah Furbush of Kenton was named the defensive player of the year in Division IV while quarterback Brody Hoying of Coldwater offensive player of the year recognition in Division V.
Also earning first-team honors for Kenton was end Justin Sawmilleron offense. Also making the first team for Coldwater were linebacker Mitch Schoenherr and defensive back Adam Klosterman.
Earning second team honors for Kenton were quarterback Grant Sherman and defensive back Matt Bahr. Wildcat lineman Marcus Rhoades made the third team and teammate Tristan Reichelderfer received special mention.
Defensive end Trey Guilliam of Defiance made the first team in Division III. Wapak offensive lineman Kyle Gonterman landed on the second team and teammate and running back Zach Schmerge received third team honors.
Also in Division III, Chance Weitz of Elida, Thomas Schoenlien of Wapakoneta and Jared Knous of St. Marys received special mention.
Lineman Austin Klosterman of Coldwater was named to the third team. Andrew Schwieterman of Coldwater and Brad Racer and Tyler Zender of Ottawa-Glandorf received special mention.
