Elida, Lima Senior earn girls hoops victories

CELINA - Kylie Downton scored 15 points as Elida defeated Celina 51-30 in a Western Buckeye League girls basketball game Thursday.

After trailing 8-7 at the end of the first quarter, Elida outscored Celina 16-10 in the second quarter and then distanced itself further by outscoring Celina 21-10 in the third period. Elida connected on 18 of 32 field goal attempts for 56 percent and was 10 of 13 from the free throw line for 77 percent. Elida committed four turnovers while Celina had 12. Kelly Stahl led Celina with 10 points.

Lima Senior 66, Fremont Ross 45

Indiya Benjamin scored 31 points and teammate Essence Cowan contributed 11 for Lima Senior. The Spartans’ Shaquayla Johnson had six assists.

Delphos St. John’s 42, Parkway 41

ROCKFORD - Emilie Fischbach scored 12 points and teammate Amanda Boberg had 11 for the Blue Jays. Sierra Fent led the Panthers with 15 points.

Bluffton 62, Delphos Jefferson 39

BLUFFTON - Sarah Schriner had 19 points and Olivia Hunt had 13 for Bluffton. Rileigh Stockwell had 10 points for Delphos Jefferson.

Leipsic 55, Arlington 41

LEIPSIC - Amber Gerdeman had 16 points and Haley Gerten had 15 for Leipsic (4-1).

Pandora-Gilboa 74, Vanlue 23

VANLUE - Olivia Maag scored 19 points and teammate Vanessa McCullough had 11 as the Rockets improved to 1-2 on the season.

Crestview 46, Columbus Grove 34

CONVOY - Emily Bauer scored 19 points and teammates Kennis Mercer and Lindsey Motycka had 11 each for the 3-1 Knights. Jade Clement led the Bulldogs with 10 points.

Arcadia 60, Hardin Northern 20

DOLA - Holly Wilson had five points to lead Hardin Northern (1-4)

Marion Local 63, Fort Recovery 46

FORT RECOVERY - Marion Local moved to 5-0 on the season with a Midwest Athletic Conference victory as Brooke Winner had 20 points and Allie Thobe had 18 for the Flyers. Kendra Siefring had 14 points and Kara Jutte and Tori Lenartz had 10 points each for Fort Recovery (4-1).

Ada 51, Paulding 32

PAULDING - Tori Wyss scored 21 points and teammate Sidney Faine had 12 points for Ada. Sierra McCullough had nine points for Paulding.

Minster 54, New Knoxville 42

MINSTER - Claire Fischer scored 15 points and teammates Kayla Richard and Logan Arnold scored 12 and 8 points respectively for the Wildcats (2-0) in the MAC contest. Paige Lehman had 15 points and Meg Reineke had 14 points for New Knoxville (2-2).

Waynesfield-Goshen 74, Lehman Catholic 38

WAYNESFIELD -Emily Patton scored 23 points and Abbie Van Horn scored 22 for the Tigers (3-1).

Ayersville 54, Miller City 25

AYERSVILLE - Amanda Simon had eight points and seven rebounds for Miller City (0-5).


WBL Super Tri

WAPAKONETA - The Redskins went 2-0 with victories over Celina (50-21) and Kenton (64-11). Also, St. Marys defeated Kenton 56-15 and lost to Celina 35-34.
