Ohio State this week

THIS WEEK

Western Michigan (1-2) at Ohio State (3-0), ABC, ESPN or ESPN 2

LAST WEEK

Ohio State 20, Northern Illinois 13

Western Michigan 52, Murray State 20

SCOUTING REPORT

Buckeyes: Ohio State has underperformed offensively for two straight games and will be looking for a turnaround. The quarterback situation remains unsettled but the problems have been more widespread than just one position. Defensively, Ohio State appears to be hitting on all cylinders.

Huskies: When Western Michigan moves the ball, quarterback Zach Terrell is usually involved in it. The junior from Fort Wayne has completed 70 percent of his passes for 947 yards, 8 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Running back Javrion Franklin had a huge game against Murray State last week when he rushed for 163 yards.

PREGAME TAKEAWAY

Western Michigan’s record might be a little deceiving. Its two losses have been to nationally ranked Michigan State and to Sun Belt Conference favorite Georgia Southern. The Broncos were predicted to finish third in the Mid-American Conference West Division in a preseason poll of MAC coaches.

Ohio State doesn’t have to win big, but a blowout would certainly improve the mood of the fan base.
