I do not understand why Penn State coach Joe Paterno was fired. When told by assistant Mike McQuery what Jerry Sandusky alledgedly did, Paterno did his job and told his supervisors what apparently happened.Does it make sense that Paterno should have bypassed his superiors and gone to the police? The board of trustees at Penn State found Paterno’s lack of going above his job an ample excuse to fire him.Much has been said about the victims of sexual abuse in this case. What about the other victims, the players, students, alumni and fans of Penn State. They are also victims, though not of sexual abuse.I know Paterno served at the pleasure of the board of trustees. However, why did the board of trustees at Penn State fire Paterno immediately rather than let him coach until the end of the season? Why was Paterno fired?
