LimaBrian Mentley Fisher, 66, of Las Vegas, formerly of Lima, died May 25, 2012, in Las Vegas.He was born Feb. 8, 1946, in New York City to Harold Mentley and Elizabeth Fisher, who preceded him in death.Mr. Fisher was raised by loving parents in Gowanda, N.Y. He was an Army veteran, being discharged in 1970. He was a 1975 graduate of Kent State University and a 1979 graduate of Ohio Northern University College of Law. Following a successful law career in Lima, where he concentrated mainly on criminal defense and trial practice, he successfully passed the Nevada Bar exam and continued to practice criminal defense law in Las Vegas. In addition to practicing law, he was a friend of Bill W., acting as an active mentor and counselor and assisting friends and associates dealing with stresses, pressures and addictions, so common in today’s hurried society.He was an active motorcyclist, having ridden through every state in the continental United States, Canada from east to west and most of Mexico. In fact, his last ride was several hundred miles through the desert and surrounding mountains just two weeks before his death. He was also an accomplished scuba diver, with dives all over the world; snow skier, at all major mountains in North America; and a race boat driver, motorcycle racer and race car driver. He was known to all as a practical person. He was only recently diagnosed with cancer.Survivors include a sister, Karen Elizabeth Fisher Vogtli, of Vancouver, Wash.; two nieces, Tara Osborne and Kiersten Palmersheim, both of Vancouver, Wash.; two nephews, Shane Vogtli and Kevin Vogtli, both of Vancouver, Wash.; and 10 great-nephews and a great-niece, all of Vancouver, Wash. Memorial services will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Palm Mortuary-Downtown, Las Vegas. A ceremonial motorcycle ride with his cremains as his last ride to his beloved Red Rock Canyon will be begin at 8 a.m. Sunday starting at the Starbucks on Las Vegas Boulevard South. Anyone wishing one last ride with him are invited to ride along.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brian Fisher Memorial Fund at Meadows Bank.
