Wapakoneta lanes welcomes PBA Regional Tour

There are a variety of reasons to venture out on a given weekend. The opportunity to spend time with friends, great food and the opportunity to support a cause.

There also may be the golden chance to observe or even steal the opportunity to interact with those that excel at their craft.

Friday that opportunity will happen as members of the PBA will take part in Pro-Am events at Astro Lanes in Wapakoneta.

Saturday morning the competition will begin in earnest. Defending champ Kyle Troup will be there — and who knows if there is not a PBA50 event going on somewhere maybe his father, Guppy, will be in attendance. Coldwater champion E J Tackett will be making the trip along with Chris Loschetter, Brian Kretzer, Eugene McCune and PBA host Todd Book.

This is another tournament that will also draw a lot of local talent. Auglaize Masters champion Fuzz Ruck will be in the field along with Anthony Kennard and Chandler Stevens.

Special Olympics of Auglaize County will benefit from the weekend.

There is a chicken dinner prepared by Erb’s Poultry as well as a 50/50 drawing and a silent auction, generally loaded with great items. For more information head to pba.com and click on regional.

“We love to see the people who show up to support us — the tournament actually belongs to them.” Tackett said in a recent interview — stating “it is actually the fans that deserve the applause!”

Tackett went on to say “We all have regular jobs — we have or will have families that we need to take care of! When I am not bowling I actually work at country club back home.”

Tackett also reaffirmed his love for the area.

“We love to come back to this area and bowl. The people are fantastic! I really believe that if I broke down on the highway that Rick Hartings would come and help me!’

After his stay in Wapak he will likely learn that Dave Jeanneret and several Auglaize County mechanics would make that trip as well.
