Meteorologists need retrained

Why does it seem so hard to be able to predict the weather?

As I sit and write this, it is raining outside. We started out with no prediction of the amount of snowfall due to the varying maps and when we finally got an amount it was 6 to 12 inches of snow and then it kept going up. At one point on The Weather Channel, Lima was in the 12- to 18-inch range. Then it was 8 to 14 inches.

It is 5 p.m. now and raining.

These people who predict the weather perhaps need an additional semester of schooling or a refresher. Have these meteorologists ever heard the story of the boy who cried wolf?

Now I went to the grocery store in Allen County as many other folks did to stock up on essentials anticipating the biggest storm of the year. I also filled my gas tank spending money in Allen County as I am sure most people did. I also got extra gas for the snow blower in Allen County. I bought salt to salt my sidewalks in Allen County.

I am beginning to wonder if there is a connection.

Does anyone else see what I am seeing? It seems that when “they” announce a big storm we all spend big money in Allen County. All I know is that from now on, when the news comes out with a watch, warning or any advisory I will not take it seriously. I will not go to the store to “stock” up, gas up or anything that costs me extra.

Hopefully someday it won’t cost me my life!
