On Martin Luther King Jr. Day for Jan. 19, I stayed up until 2 a.m. to watch a very good movie called “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” (1967).
If you have never seen it, it is highly recommended. Recommended for several reasons.
First is the great acting. Second is interesting positions presented. And third is that it is so very relevant to the Martin Luther King Jr. legacy and to the things that are happening around our world right now.
People loving people is sometimes hard to find. Sometimes hard to imagine. People as groups find little common ground but actually they have very much common ground.
We all need each other. We all need love. We all need space to live and experience this thing called life. We all need to get along. There are many more things we need but these are some of the big ones.
It is hard to understand many of the problems of mankind when the problems arise from something as THIN as the skin on our bones. It is hard to understand many of these problems when all the religions of man call us together under the one word called LOVE.
Rent it, buy it, see it. The movie is called “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” (1967). Then try to UNDERSTAND it. And God bless us all.
