Farmers markets will soon be opening in the region. Here is a guide so you can plan your adventures:
Name: Downtown Lima farmers market
Address: Trinity Park, corner of Market and Pierce streets, 325 W. Market St., Lima
Date it opens: May 5, through September
Hours: 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays
Details: Fresh seasonal produce, baked goods, jellies and jams, maple syrup, kettle corn, gluten-free products, healthy living products, spices, mixes, breads, plants. Average of 15-20 vendors per week.
Name: St. Marys farmers market
Address: Next to Dave’s Barbecue, 1700 Celina Road, St. Marys
Date it opens: May 23, through September
Hours: 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays
Details: Fresh seasonal produce, local honey, baked goods from cookies, homemade pies, bread, noodles, crocheted items, knitted items, handcrafted walking sticks, tip carving, homemade soaps, homemade candies, gluten-free items. Between 13 to 18 vendors at beginning of the year.
Name: Wapakoneta farmers market
Address: Belcher Park behind town, across the river, Wapakoneta
Date it opens: May 9
Hours: 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturdays (except May 16)
Details: Fresh produce, honey, plants, maple syrup, arts and crafts; June 1 is the “grand opening” with extra activities, including a booth by the humane society, a Riverside Art Center booth, a 1918 Model T Roadster pickup and more. Averages 12 to 14 vendors each week, up to 27.
Name: Celina farmers market
Address: Courthouse square, 101 N. Main St., Celina
Date it opens: May 2, through October
Hours: 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays
Details: Fresh produce, homemade soaps, homemade jewelry, designer cupcakes, baked goods, homemade noodles, seedlings in May and June, honey, pancake mixes, mixes for dips.
Name: Bluffton farmers market
Address: Citizens National Bank parking lot, 102 S. Main St., Bluffton
Date it opens: May 2, through October
Hours: 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturdays
Details: One of the largest farmers’ markets in small-town Northwest Ohio; fresh produce, plants, baked goods, honey, maple syrup, herbs, potted flowers, berries, sweet corn, many varieties of tomato, once-a-month music entertainment. Averages 20 vendors per week, up to 35 vendors.
Name: Freedom farmers market
Address: Parking lot of Little Squirt Sports Park, 1996 W. Robb Ave., Lima
Date it opens: June 6, depending on weather, through October
Hours: 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays
Details: Fresh produce: Early in the season — lettuces, green onions, kale; Mid-season — tomatoes, cantaloupe, sweet corn, watermelon, peppers, homemade soap, pies, breads and more.
Name: Van Wert farmers market
Address: 500 Fox Road, Van Wert
Date it opens: Last week of May/first week of June (weather permitting), through September
Hours: 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays
Details: Baked goods, strawberries, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, watermelon, cantaloupe, sweet corn, peppers, cucumbers, summer squash, acorn squash, butternut squash, spaghetti squash, apples, peaches. Averages six vendors per week, up to 10 vendors.
Name: Something from the Garden
Address: 13492 U.S. 224, Van Wert
Date it opens: First week of April, through the end of the year
Hours: Tentative hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 2 to 6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays
Details: A country store with a full seasonal farmers’ market — fresh produce, cheeses, local garden accent items, fresh-cut flowers, fresh eggs, berries, local honey and more.
Name: Lincoln Ridge farmers market
Address: 820 N. Washington St., Van Wert (parking lot of the old Van Wert Inn)
Date it opens: First week of July through second week of September
Hours: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays
Details: Asparagus, strawberries, lettuces, spinach, green beans, beets, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet corn, cantaloupe, watermelon, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, apples, peaches. No GMOs or sprays.
Name: Ottawa farmers market
Address: Corner of Main and Oak streets, Ottawa
Date it opens: June 5
Hours: 4 to 7 p.m. on first Friday of each month; one added day on June 26 from 1 to 7 p.m. during GOBA (bike tour)
Details: Fresh produce, starts for tomato plants, raspberry plants, perennials, petunias, doll clothes, scarves, hand towels, dish cloths, baked goods like cookies, pies, breads, cakes and cinnamon rolls, homemade spaghetti sauce, relishes, salsa and jellies, gluten-free items, homemade caramels and fudge, live entertainment, free kids activities. Average of six to eight vendors per week
Name: Suter’s Produce red barn markets

Name: Gessner’s Produce

Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays
Details: Fresh produce — specializes in strawberries, sweet corn, homemade pies and jams; takes orders for canning for tomatoes, beans, peaches and red beets; sells garden and bedding plants, bulk seed and much more in the spring.
Name: New Bremen farmers market
Address: Amsterdam Center near Wagner’s IGA, New Bremen
Date it opens: Early July through October
Hours: 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays

Name: Leipsic farmers market
