LIMA —The Pontiac GTO was built from 1964 until 1974, and might be considered by many to be the first muscle car. The Judge option came in 1969 and lasted through 1971. Of course, this option borrowed its name from the popular Rowan and Martin hit show, “Laugh In,” with the slogan, ‘Here comes the Judge.’ Stripes, decals, rear wing or spoiler and Rally II wheels were standard for the Judge. There were options on the size of the engine, as most went with the 400 cubic inch engine.
Bill Taylor, of Lima brought his 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge convertible to The Lima News’ Real Wheels Cruise-In. He has owned it for 15 years. The car went through a restoration process in 1999, and currently has 25,000 on it. Taylor’s license plate reads, “Judged.” He enjoys sharing memories with fellow car enthusiasts.
