Kenton, Minster advance in playoffs

KENTON — Trent Hites threw six touchdown passes and ran for TD as the host Wildcats defeated Port Clinton in the opening round of the Division IV playoffs Friday.

Hites threw for 524 yards, completing 28 of 36 passes, as Kenton (9-2) will next play Wooster Triway, which beat Galion 35-7, next Friday at a yet to be determined site.

Minster 42, Mechanicsburg 41

MINSTER — The host Wildcats survived in two overtimes to advance in the Division VI playoffs.

Jason Schultz’s extra point kick proved to be the game-winner for Minster (8-3) which will next play fellow Midwest Athletic Conference member Versailles, which beat Casstown Miami East 34-27, next Friday in a yet to be determined location.

Minster quarterback Josh Nixon completed 16 of 31 passes for 280 and six touchdown. Teammate Eli Wolf caught five passes for 81 yards and had three TD receptions.

Wynford 29, Delphos Jefferson 12

BUCYRUS — The visiting Wildcats finished the season 8-3 after dropping their Division VI playoff opener.
