Coldwater’s Brody Hoying has been named the 2014 JJHuddle All-Ohio Offensive Player of the Year. The senior quarterback has been a member of three state championship teams and in the Cavaliers’ 62-21 Division V title game victory over Canton Central Catholic this year he rushed for 236 yards and four touchdowns on 21 carries. He also was 7-of-9 passing for 99 yards and had two TD throws.
The last two years, the Eastern Michigan recruit has accounted for 105 TDs. Hoying was also the Division V offensive player of the year and was named to the first team which included all the divisions as the athlete. Kenton senior offensive lineman Larry Wells joined Hoying on the first team.
Minster junior quarterback Josh Nixon and senior Marion Local running back Jacy Goettemoeller were named the Division VI and VII offensive players of the year respectively.
Minster senior tight end Eli Wolf was named to the second team as was Goettemoeller as the athlete. Those earning honorable mention honors included Nixon, Marion Local senior quarterback Dustin Rethman, senior tight end Ryan Bruns, freshman offensive lineman John Dirksen and junior wide receiver Hunter Wilker, Kenton senior wideout Colyn Blackford, Fort Recovery junior wide receiver Wes Wenning and Leipsic junior offensive lineman Gavin Cupp.
The defensive team has yet to be announced.
