Bluffton sweeps Hanover in softball

BLUFFTON — The Bluffton softball team improved to 22-12 overall and 12-4 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference with a doubleheader sweep of Hanover on Saturday.

In the 8-7 game one victory, Bluffton scored six times in the bottom of the seventh. Jess Kuzara (two RBIs), Katie Musgrave (one RBI), Emily Kolezynski and Ashley Knippen each had two hits for the Beavers. Teammate Jo Bondra contributed a hit and three RBIs.

In the 9-1 game two win, Beavers pitcher Chloe Shell allowed no earned runs while Knippen (one RBI) and Brittany Baker had two hits each.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The University of Northwestern Ohio fell to 15-21 overall and 1-15 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference with 8-0 and 8-3 losses to Davenport University.

qualifies for NCAAs

COLUMBUS — University of Findlay junior Kendra Averesch shot putter earned a fourth place finish at the Jesse Owens Track Classic held at The Ohio State University in Columbus on Saturday with a toss of 49’04.25”. The throw automatically qualified the Leipsic graduate for the NCAA National Championship meet.

Bluffton baseball

ANDERSON — The Beavers improved to 16-14 overall and 9-9 in the HCAC with a 10-6 victory Saturday.

Jeff Roth had five hits, scored two runs and had an RBI for Bluffton. Jake Townley had two hits and two RBIs, Tim Webb had a hit and three RBIs and Luke Hickey had two hits and an RBI also for the Beavers.

OSU-Lima baseball

LIMA — Ohio State-Lima/Rhodes State dropped 7-1 and 13-2 games to Miami University Hamilton. Dan Ankrum homered for the Barons.

UNOH baseball

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The Racers improved to the 26-14 overall and 14-6 in the WHAC with 8-0 and 10-6 victories over Concordia University.
