Sports Unlimited

Softball and baseball classes for all ages being offered. Little League hitting leagues started the first week in March. Open batting available on Family Night for $5 per person. The University of Northwestern Ohio baseball program will be playing host ti a kids’ camp and high school students’ camps in November and December. The kids’ camps are open to boys ages 8 through 13 and the high school camps are open to all high school students grades 9-12.

The kids camps are being held on Nov. 2, 9, 16 and 23 and Dec. 7, 14, 21, 28. Each camp will run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with registration starting at 9 a.m. The cost for each individual camp is $40, and if you would like for your son to attend all eight camps the total cost is $275. Each camper will receive a free camp T-shirt (limit one per camper), and will be instructed on all facets of the game of baseball. UNOH Head Baseball Coach Kory Hartman, and Assistant Baseball Coach/ Head JV Coach Aaron Lee will be directing the camp while current UNOH baseball players and staff will be instructing.

The High School Camps and Showcases will be held on two separate dates, Nov. 30th and Jan.. The cost for the camp and showcase is $100, and for the showcase only it is $75. The camp will include one-on-one instruction and Q&A session with the UNOH coaching staff. The showcase will include a pro-style workout with documented running times, defensive evaluation, offensive evaluation and pitching evaluation. Each camper will receive a written evaluation by a UNOH coach. All evaluations will be posted on the UNOH athletics website two weeks after the camp.

Putnam County

The Northwest Ohio Swamprats offer fall baseball to any boy 13 or under that has interest. The team will participate in the Putnam Fall League and the Northwest Ohio Amateur Baseball League. All or most games will be played in Continental. A weekly voluntary practice will be held, and games will be played on weekends. Players will receive a cap and T-Shirt. Cost is $150. Ohio High School Basketball Classes

Tier 1 Sports is having a Saturday fall basketball league for boys and girls in grades 5-12 from Sept. 20 until Oct. 25. Participants will placed on a team and will play competitively against other youngsters from around northwest Ohio. Anyone looking to bring a team can also do so. Cost is $60 per player. A close quarters boat handling course will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Indian Lake State Park Moundwood Ramp, 7490 Edgewater Ave., Huntsville. Equipment will be provided by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Watercraft. Students will participate in operating watercraft with motors. The fee is $25 for adults and $15 for those ages 12-17 who must sign up with an adult. Participants must obtain an OBEC prior to this class.

The YMCA’s Fall Session I of classes begins Monday, Sept. 8. The YMCA has a variety of Wellness Classes aimed at everyone from the senior citizen to the high-level athlete to keep people of all ages healthy and active. Classes are offered throughout the day, including early morning, lunch time and evening. Classes offered for the seven-week Fall Session I are: BodyFlow, BodyCombat, BodyPump, Indoor Cycling, Cardio & Tone, SCWORX, Empowerment Zumba, H.I.I.T. Foot golf

Hawthorne Hills

A foot golf league for two-person teams will begin Sept. 21 and run through Oct. 26 at Hawthorne Hills.

There is a $10 registration fee, which includes a t-shirt. The student fee is $7. Participants must be 16 years old or older. Tee times will be between 3-4 p.m.

A size 5 soccer ball must be used. Participants can bring their own or rent one at the clubhouse. Tennis shoes or indoor soccer shoes only. No cleats.

Athletes in Action

Athletes in Action is having a tournament in the Cincinnati area. The HiFive Golf Classic will be held Sept. 15 at the Oasis Golf Course in Loveland.

An Ohio Hunter Education Course will be offered at from 8 a.m.until 4 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Spencerville VFW, Route 66. Participants will learn about responsibility, firearms & ammunition, wildlife management, shooting, bowhunting, personal safety and survival and care of game. The instructor will be Dave Taviano. The fifth annual Keeping Hunger of the Run Fundraiser to Benefit Meals ’til Monday will be held Saturday, Oct. 25, at Elida Elementary School. Early entry fees will be $21 for the 5K and $42 for the Half Marathon and must be postmarked by Sept. 27. Entry fees include lunch following the race, Tech shirt and chip timing. The race day fee will be $31 for the 5K and $52 for the Half Marathon with a shirt not guaranteed. Packet pick-up will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Elida Elementary or race day morning. The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District Twilight 5K Fun Run/Walk will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Ottawa Metro Park, 2632 Ada Rd. Race time will start at 6:30 p.m. and registration will be open at 5:30 p.m. Pre-Registration with a T-shirt is $20 per person without a race T-Shirt is $10 per person. The 10th annual Glandorf Soctoberfest Soccer Tournament will be held Oct. 4 and 5 in Glandorf. There is a three game guarantee with awards to the top two teams in each division. U8 (Co-Ed), $150 per team, Boys and Girls separate U10, U12 and U15, $200 per team. For more information email:

Indian Lake

The Logan County Invasion 16U travel team from Logan County (Indian Lake) is looking for another pitcher and a starting catcher to fill out there 2014/2015 roster.

The team will be playing in a few fall and winter tournaments and practice at least once a week.

The Lima Barracudas Swim Team’s new swimmers Try-It-Out week for those ages 5 to 18 is from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11-13 at the Lima Family YMCA, 345 S. Elizabeth St.. Lima Recreation

Registration is underway for a fifth and sixth-grade girls volleyball program in October, sponsored by the Lima Recreation Department.

Registration forms will be available in Lima City Schools. Games will be on Saturday. Fees are $30 for participants from schools inside Lima’s city limits and $35 for all others. Registration fee is due Sept. 23.
