HELEN MARIE RODE, 80, died at 8:50 p.m. Feb. 10, 2007, at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert.

She was born Sept. 14, 1926, in Wapakoneta to Albert "Brownie" and Louise Zigenfelder Schneider, who preceded her in death. She married James F. Rode, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Rode worked at Pangle's and Chief's for 30 years. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471 and the Senior Citizens Center and was a volunteer at the Delphos Thrift Shop, all in Delphos. She was a very loving, giving and special lady who gave all she could to everyone else. She immensely enjoyed her family, extended family and friends. We will miss her and Sundays will never be the same.

Survivors include two daughters, Christine (Bill) Hartsock and Kathy (Dean) Young; seven sons, Mike (Deb) Rode, Patrick "Tony" (Pam) Rode and Dan (Janet) Rode, all of Delphos, Dennis (Kathy) Rode, of Bluffton, Jim (Mary) Rode, Joe (June) Rode and John (Bonnie) Rode, all of Delphos; three sisters, Mary Suever, of Delphos, Mildred (Carl) Metzger, of Fort Jennings, and Joan Rosendale, of Delphos; 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, seven stepgreat-grandchildren, four stepgreat-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Martha Rode; a daughter-in-law, Pam Rode; and five sisters, Florentine Hanf, Irene Sterns, Louise Roby, Pauline Bibler and Alberta Helpling.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos. The Rev. Wayne Prater will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Delphos.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and noon until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Citizens Center.
