ALLEN O. GROMAN, 71, died at 6:15 a.m. Dec. 20, 2004, at Plus Health Care Center.

He was born Jan. 4, 1933, in Tiffin to Oliver J. and Esther M. Gromann Groman, who preceded him in death. On July 11, 1992, he married Janet Spitler Cornelius, who survives.

Mr. Groman retired in October 2003, as owner/operator of Allen's Barber Shop. He was also an Amway distributor. He was a charter member of Family of Faith United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Fort Shawnee Lions Club, the Northend Neighborhood Association and the Lima-Allen County Neighborhoods in Partnership. He was a 1952 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School and a graduate of Ohio State Barber College in Toledo. He was an Army veteran.

Survivors also include two sons, Dwight A. (Joann) Groman of Ada and Dean E. (Luci) Groman of Westminster, Colo.; a daughter, Deanna L. (Tim) Tavenner of Orient; four stepsons, Richard L. Cornelius of Reelsville, Ind., Steven A. Cornelius of Granger, Ind., Tracy S. (Wende) Cornelius of Alpine, Calif., and Terry S. Cornelius of Hewlett, Texas; two stepdaughters, Andrea Beth (Richard) Pastoria of Stow and Juanita Faye (Everett) Winters of Pittsburg, Kan.; a brother, Morris J. (Carol) Groman of Bluffton; a sister, Margaret A. Elsass of Lima; and eight grandchildren, Bernice, Timothy, Andrew, Stephanie, Kevin, Daniel, Dustin and Matthew.

He was preceded in death by Raymond and Pearl Schubert, who raised him; and his first wife, Alta Jean Williams, who died Jan. 6, 1990.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Family of Faith United Methodist Church. The Revs. Marti Vogelsang and Hap Itson will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Lewis Chapel.
