JEAN GRIFFIN McCAIN, 89, died at 8:05 p.m. Sept. 24, 2006, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 4, 1917, in Mercer County to Floyd B. and Minnie M. Kolter Griffin, who preceded her in death. On June 14, 1942, she married Richard Brenneman, who died in January 1944. On March 5, 1948, she married Robert C. McCain, who survives.

Mrs. McCain was a homemaker and had been a secretary for Krone Lumber Co. She graduated from the Northwest School of Commerce. She enjoyed ballroom dancing.

Survivors include a son, John W. (Debra Barrett) McCain of Cincinnati; a daughter, Patricia J. (Daniel J.) Hilvers of Elida; two grandchildren, Andrew Hilvers and Jeanne Hilvers; a brother, Claude Griffin of Dallas; and a sister, Joerdis Hurley of Las Vegas.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Joan (Howard) Myers, Melba Stuby and Maxine Spayd.

Memorial services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Pastor Jonathan Spyker will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.

Friends may call at a reception following the services Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
