GERDA E. JOHNS, 81, formerly of Cridersville, died at 7:30 a.m. May 11, 2005, at Wapakoneta Manor.

She was born Feb. 8, 1924, in Warberg, Germany, to Richard F. and Erna Sander Hugo, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 17, 1959, she married Fred E. Johns, who survives.

Mrs. Johns was a homemaker. She was a member of the Golden Age Senior Citizens, Russells Point.

Survivors also include two sons, Klaus D. (Lydia) Johns of Germany and George M. (Adrienne) Johns of Campbell; two daughters, Alice M. Burden of Wapakoneta, and Barbara E. (Jack) Patten of Taswell, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; 20 greatgrandchildren; five great-greatgrandchildren; a brother, Rudi (Traute) Hugo of Germany; a sister, Hannelore Giernoth of Germany; and a sister-in-law, Anita Hugo of Germany.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Heinz Hugo; and a sister, Elsa Peine.

Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The Rev. Randy Davis will officiate. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Dayton.
