Helen Pauline Shaffer, 88, of Rockford went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 30, 2005 at 11:30 a.m., at Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born in Van Wert on July 27, 1916, the daughter of Frank & Bessie (Brown) Krugh. On December 25, 1936, she married Vergil Shaffer, who survives.
Mrs. Shaffer was a 1932 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School. She was a secretary, homemaker and helped on the family farm. She enjoyed reading, painting, and her family. She was a member of Ohio City Church of God but had attended Olive Branch Church of God and Calvary Evangelical Church.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years; one son, Marvin (Vickie) Shaffer of Galena, Ohio; one daughter, Carolyn (Roger) Jamieson of Van Wert; five grandchildren, Michael Jamieson, Jody (Brian) O'Neill, Julie (Bill) Workman, Lisa (Tobin) Juday, and Doug Shaffer; three great grandchildren; and one sister, Mae Piper of Hamilton, OH. She was preceded in death by two infant brothers and a grandson, Gary Jamieson.
